OK.... with a lot of help from other sensible males (thanks Rob!) I was able to steer the Panther away from the Solstice! The Cooper!? Sure... why not! Especially with the new Clubman hitting the market things were really looking up! I've always been a real fan of British cars. Now I know, the Cooper is a heck of a lot more German than British, but it's the inspiration that counts right!? RIGHT????
Sooo.... the Cooper was a deception. Mind you... I would have loved to give the car a real go if the weirdo salesman wasn't sitting in the back seat! In the end, I did not have the time or opportunity to become "one" with the car and it ended up being too expensive for what it had to give. Okay Marc....back to Earth.... you are not shopping for yourself, nor are you hoping to find a small toy to amuse yourself on the weekends! You already have an XBox 360 afterall!
After a disapointing visit to the Mini dealer, I was left with a very disapointed girlfriend! Now we all know that we can't have that! I have a sex life to take care of! My mind goes into overdrive, and I start thinking about other options. I really like the Honda Civic coupe and my buddy, Eric, drives a brand new Civic SiR and it's a real beauty! But... doesn't catch my Sweety's eye! Okay... what's left? The 350Z Nissan doesn't really have anything and the Versa doesn't really jump over other cars around town. Toyota? Although the commercials are very entertaining, the Yaris doesn't cut it. Mitsubishi, Hyundai and yes... even Subaru (they do make the highly desirable WRX!), yet nothing sent my loved one's blood flowing !
Until it hit me !!! One of my top fantasy cars (OMG I'm getting excited!) is the Volvo P1800. Most guys my age will remember Roger Moore driving one in the TV series " The Saint". Just so happened that Volvo inspired itself from the P1800 to create the C30 in 2007. Now... what a HOT car!!! A quick Google search showed that the asking price was within reach. After reading a few reviews we decide to go for a test drive! Wow! What a rocket! Sadly, once again the salesman was the backseat driver holding back my F1 fantasies!
I knew right away by the sparkle in my girlfriend's eyes that we had a winner. After negociating almost $5000 off the asking price, and 2 coffee cups from the salesman, a deal was reached!
In the end.... everybody's happy; one less stressful thing off my girlfriend's list and she ends up with her first new car (and a real hot one at that!), the salesman gets his commission and... I get mine too ! ;-)
